Verification method
The canonicalization and digest scheme is published in full so anyone can re-implement it. The reference implementation is not yet downloadable, because the site repository is private.
What it is
Keys sorted by UTF-16 code unit, no insignificant whitespace, array order preserved, non-integer and non-finite numbers rejected rather than coerced, SHA-256 over the UTF-8 bytes with the digest field removed. Two people who have never met should compute the same digest for the same record.
What it lets you do
Recompute a record's digest from the record itself, check an artifact's bytes against its published hash, or check the whole site against one manifest.
Limitations
- Marked limited, not available: you can re-derive the scheme from the published description, and you cannot yet download our implementation of it.
- Verification proves you received the bytes that were published. It proves nothing about whether a claim is true.
What has to happen before this is available
A licence decision on the site repository, which has not been made and which this site does not pre-empt by implying an open licence that does not exist.
